Overview:
In 3060 the Irongate Grenadiers conducted their first major campaign alongside the Lost
Caws. The relationship between the companies was very jovial and a strong camaraderie was
founded, leading to extensive co-operation henceforth. The commander of the Irongate
Grenadiers was a member of the Clausewitz family whose dynasty also ran the Ravensbourne
Specialist Engineering Zaibatsu, which meant the Zaibatsu became a kind of
sponsor/benefactor to the Lost Caws. Collaboration work between the mercenary companies
included creation of a think tank, the Yggdrasil Society, which developed a number of mechs
that were offered in Promethean Armouries Built-to-Order catalogue of premium battlemechs
    manufactured at their Ravensbourne facilities.

The CGR-1B1 was the first of these projects, and more specifically a celebration of a
specific pilot who earned a reputation during the 3060 periphery campaign. *pilot's name*
operated a CGR-1A1 and time and again threw themselves into the thick of combat to protect
allied forces of the Trimerc Coalition. Some years after the campaign it was reported the
-1A1 had been irreparably damaged in the course of *pilot's name*'s unflinching bravery and
Irongate veterans of the campaign petitioned their leadership to do something for the Lost
Caws and *pilot's name* in particular in thanks for the lives their efforts had saved years
before. RSE intended to replace *pilot's name*'s Charger with a more recent model but found
themselves at a loss because any newer models of Charger on the market were designed towards
a fairly standard assault mech role, at odds with the scrappy melee machine that the -1A1
was. Promethean Armouries and the Yggdrasil Society sought to fill this gap in the market,
    thus the -1B1 was born.

The CGR-1B1 was intended to be a mass production machine, and a production line on Loxley
was created, but sales were so poor that production was shifted to Ravensbourne for
on-demand manufacture to free up it's Loxley line to help meet demand for more popular
    machines.

Capabilities:
The CGR-1B1 is built to fulfil the same role as the -1A1, but better. More armour, slightly
upgraded firepower and, with the addition of triple strength myomer, more speed and melee
power. A C3 slave serves as a critical addition to exploit the Charger's proximity to opfor
to provide target telemetry to lancemates.

Variants:
Early designs of the -1B1 actually utilised a light engine which had been made available to
Lyran manufacturers in recent years. This was considered for the -1B1 because it opened up
options not available with a standard fusion engine while also meaning partial torso
destruction didn't incapacitate the mech. The early concept was also given jump jets and a
hatchet to evoke a sense of continuity from the recent faltering in Axeman production caused
    by the FedCom dissolution.

Overabundance of tech features (the light engine especially) made the concept prohibitively
expensive from the perspective of PA's market research. A more modest design eventually
became the -1B1 but the initial concept was retained by PA engineers and went on to become
the basis to the -3D variants.

The -1B1 is believed to be PA's rarest mass production machine since manufacture at the
Loxley campus only lasted two years before the production line was reconfigured to support
    manufacture of more popular machines.
