Overview:
    Conceived as an affordable export for "interested parties," the Savager provides adequate
    capabilities for aggressive MechWarriors.
    
    The Savager was built by Vandernberg Mechanized Industries off an experiment inspired by the
    Phoenix Hawk. It is a Commando chassis strengthened to carry double the original weight.
    
    The mech is also produced using components made within the Concordat.

Capabilities:
    The philosophy behind the Savager is simple: rend open an enemy's armor from afar, then move
    in to exploit the openings with the SRMs.
    
    The Savager is designed to "savage" a target from long range with its PPC. Once an
    opponent's protection is sufficiently degraded, a Savager pilot is expected to move in and
    "savage" the target with its dual SR4 launchers.
    
    Both tactics can be adequately handled by the Savagers speed, with top limits reaching
    around 86 kph. The lack of jump jets can be a hindrance in challenging terrain, but the cost
    savings makes it worth the while for many operators. It also happens that its most prolific
    users, the so-called Abjurers, are not fond of jump jets, given the preference for it among
    Auriga's forces and that of the Wild Hunt mercenary company.

Deployment:
    The relatively cheap mech has become a staple of "Abjurer" forces, or former Taurian
    military units who decided not to return to the Concordat following the end of the
    Restoration War, ostensibly to avoid "unjust persecution" for allegations of crimes against
    humanity perpetrated against the Aurigan people.
    
    This has led to questions of who has been buying the Taurian-produced mech and how it has
    made its way to Abjurer forces throughout the Frontier.
    
    The Savager fits the needs of the Abjurers well, given their real target forces - the MAF
    and ACDF - operate a lot of light and medium BattleMechs, weight classes that the Savager
    seems designed to combat in particular.
    
    The mech has seen limited deployment with the Concordat's own armed forces despite its
    capabilities, seeing more placement with militia and second line formations.
