While the 1G Battlemaster shows that making a good 4/6 assault in 3025 is possible, many other 4/6 assaults show that it isn't that easy. Unfortunately the Cyclops series belongs to the second group. Both speed and armor are above average, but the armament is pathetic and fourteen heat sinks are not needed. The armament needs some serious redistribution. As it is it's only an upgraded Charger. Maybe that this is the Cyclops variant that creates the reputation of ideal commander machine, because it's well protected and the enemy will likely try to engage more dangerous foe instead. |

This Cyclops variant has sufficient armor now but with the loss of the AC/20 it has the weapon loadout of a medium or lighter heavy support mech.
It will stand some time against assaults and heavies due to the armor but in return it isn´t able to do much damage. |

It has excellent armour, but the weapon loadout can be beaten by a well rounded medium. Although the armour means it will last long in a fight. the weapons mean it probobly wont do much while its there. Use it to back up medium or heavy lances, otherwise its a flawed design |

It finally carries armor worthy of a 90 ton 'mech, but the weapons just don't work very well here. Up close it carries less firepower than a Jenner, and two LRM-10s is nobody's idea of a good amount of fire support. |

A decent choice if you need an assault mech for Fire support. but why you'd need that I'm not sure.
In 3025 especially Assault mechs seem devoid of most ranged weaponry. So why waste your tonnage on inefficent ranged weapons?
The 17 tons of armour let it close and be a brawler but thats kind of an expensive use for an assault mech. |
