Overview:
The Claymore Medium Tank was designed shortly befor the Clan Invasion.
It was only produced in small numbers in early 3050 as production was shifted to BattleMechs
as soon as intel about the invading enemy reached Luthien.
Designed to replace the aging Vedette it was postponed as upgrading existing Vedettes was
deemed faster and cheaper to do.
After the Clans were stopped at Tukayyid production resumed.
Capabilities:
The design goals of this tank incorporated at least double the firepower without any
reduction in range and a substantial upgrade of the armor.
To accomplish that the Claymore carries an LB10-X instead of the old standard AC/5 and two
small pulse laser, that are now mounted in the turret for a much greater field of fire,
instead of the single machinegun.
The amount of armor was nearly doubled und a turret mounted AMS had been added for further
protection against missiles.
All that came with a price: even though switching to a fusion engine the Claymore has a
maximum speed of roughly 65 km/h.
Deployment:
The Claymore can be found in most armor regiments of the Draconis Combine and several
mercenary units.
As it wasn't build in great numbers it found itself in combat side by side with the
Vedettes, that they were meant to replace.
Variants:
There are no official variants of the Claymore Medium Tank.

Comment:
This is a tank to my liking. It's beefy with a lot of armor. It's gun while not exactly stellar still packs some punch and it can still be packed in a light vehicle bay. With armor this heavy and single LB gun there is a high probability that it's going to be passed for some more worthwhile target and thus will be able to utilise it's gun for a long time. With the comming of the clans it's 10 damage output is starting to be a little underpowered, but these are not meant to work alone. A solid tank for sure.
