This is a regiments pocket-lighter. You need something to be burned down (woods, buildings, supply-depots, infantry etc.)? Send one of these. In case of meeting light opposition it´s weapons, mobility and armor is sufficient. If meeting heavy opposition fill the air with flames and smoke and run. But be careful: If you give them hell you easily can cook your pilot in his cockpit. |

Fire Fire Fire Fire.... BURN BABY BURN
One of my all time favorite Mechs. Good mobility, decent armor, incredible point blank fire power. In a duel this thing is nasty. In a lance they have not faired so well. Seem to either be a high priority target or over matched. When moving solo in a scenario, I have done well. You must be able to manage heat or you can not use this Mech.
GM- Players cringe to see this Mech and I use it all the time. Its ability to damage Mechs, Infantry and property is unparalleled. PCs have to work hard when one of these is on the board. |

Pocket forest fire for every unit that wants to fry someone in his own juice. Highly specialized mech that can make any victory cost a lot. (Un)fortunately scorched earth tactics are not so common in the IS these days, so if you want to see some real hot action you must wait for Jihad. I don't think that the armor is too weak, because the mech should slip past the main defenses and burn anything in its path. It's fast enough to avoid tougher opposition and more than able to deal with occasional Stinger or Vedette guarding the rear areas. The only change I would make Would be the exchange of MG ammo for more armor. Otherwise its perfect. Oh, watch your heat, especially if you work with the flamers a lot. |

Not the worst design in 3025. I think that the flamers should have been SRM-2's with infrerno rounds loaded instead. Only 2 could be loaded unless other sacrifices were made but 2 SRM-2's and 2 tons of ammo (1 standard and 1 inferno) would make this a more viable design. It is not intended for front line service, it excels in anti-infantry warfare and urban combat, but they have been pressed into service in front line units before. |

The Firestarter could be a close range terror if not for 2 armor problems, the arm and leg armor is very poor, equivilant to a 20 tonner. This mech is made to get up close and persoanal, yet the arms and legs can't take it, esp. if someone is kicking a Firestarter in the leg. And the left and right torsos have 8 internal, yet the 3025 TRO (old) says it has 18 armor points, 2 too many.
The first thing I would do is drop half the MG ammo for armor. Then I would consider dropping the MGs entirely for either all armor or 2 small lasers and the rest armor. |
