This variant shifts the Victor from a dedicated city sweeper to a more versatile mobile line mech. The gauss gives it a tremendous range while keeping a heavy punch. In the city its min range will represent a minor problem only because the enemy has to get very close. Two hexes away you will get only a +1 and i think an enemy will think twice before closing to close combat range with an assault. |

The long range capacity provided by the Gauss rifle was much needed. I can live with one hex of minimum range...if I can kill my opponent at twenty hexes, I don't need to fight him at one hex.
As for the "efficiency" of the design, and adding DHS, it does its job perfectly well with single heat sinks, thank you very much! |

Its about time they gave this mech a weapon with range. Ive seen too many 3025 VTRs fall victims to lighter mechs carrying LRMs.
Sticking with the single heat sinks is something you either like or you dont. Granted, the DHS would let you get more cooling for less weight, but DHS are sometimes hard to come by in the field. And really, efen with jumping and alpha strikes, this mech barely builds up any heat.
Other than that. Nice speed, with jump to get you around in the city. The armor is nice and beefy, so it can take some punishment before needing to find the duct tape.
Make those gauss shots count, though. Sixteen rounds may look like much, but if the battle goes on for too long, your biggest gun is going to be beyond dry when the dust settles. |

They could have swap those single heatsinks for doubles and u would have freed up another 5 tons. If space would have it, Ferro armor will be good too.
The Gauss rifle is a mixed bag on this one. Victors are city fighters and the Gauss turns it into a long range sniper which doesnt go down too well with me :/. The pulse lasers are nice though for a jumpy and fast assault but a pair of them aint gonna be a city sweeper.
This upgrade could have being better. |

Give me the AC 20 back. City fighters don't need no wussy Guass Rifles.
Now, that I have that off my back onto the review.
Its still the 4/6/4 mech we love but with shorter range back up weapons and Case on its Guass Rifle Ammo. Strip the Case on the Guass ammo and half a ton of armour for more shots for your big gun.
Then proceed to get close to your opponent so the pulses can fire but not so close he can get inside your guass range.
It did become more useful for open field fights as a Guass Rifle is a game ender even if its your only ranged gun, people will respect you. |
