This upgrade of the -1A9 keeps the speed of the original Charger, adds 5 JJ´s and upgrades the firepower but with that XL and the still light armor brawling is a rather risky task.
Still you have to choose lighter prey. |

Not exactly the best machine out there, but certainly an upgrade over the old models. 400 XL engine makes it cost king's ransom, but I'm not sure whether it's worth the money. The armour is certainly rather weak, unless you treat it like an overgrown machine that should really be skirting the medium/heavy weight category. LRM-20 packs just enough ammo to be useful for a while, but nothing for an extended compaign. Pulse lasers on the other hand can hurt a lot, but their range is extremely limited. I think this 'Mech could work as an upsized Grasshopper or as a big brother to medium lances, but not much else. The mobility is excellent, but the 'Mech is fragile and lacks concentrated damage source, which pulls the rating down. Concentrating on high damage output at certain range could be an improvement perhaps. |

Good compared to the original Charger, this is still a POC. At least compared to other assaults. Oh well, it seems better at combat from just looking over the specs. But I've never actually used it and doubt I ever will. |

Much worse than the 1A9. At least that had a claim to fame. This is just an expensive waste of time. stick to the over heat sinked 1A9 |

Honestly, this is only a mediocre battlemech. The lighter Bombardier carries double the boomers at the same speed.
Those who give it a high rating are only comparing it with the old Charger. |
