The Grasshopper is a fine mech but this isn´t. Loosing two mediums for an AMS isn´t worth it. Now it has too little firepower for a 70 tonner. I like the LRM-5 of the -5H very much but the change to a streak isn´t bad too (As the ER laser covers its range). But what is all that streak ammo for? The Grasshopper deserves a better upgrade. |

The ER laser is the only popular addition to the GHR (and it's also the only one that I find useful). There is no need for the streak SRM launcher and It's insane amount of ammo. The weapon is probably a relict from the times when small streaks were able to deliver infernos, but even then it wasn't that interesting. I'm indifferent about the AMS, but I must admit that if there weren't the TW rules it would be next to useless. I would prefer something more like the original 5H, but this may work. The 5J has the potential, but fails to exploit it. |

While not a great mech, it is decent. However I give it a bit higher rating than I otherwise would due to its excellent modability. It makes a great C3 Command mech when you strip the AMS, SSRM, and their ammo for a C3 Master. It does drop the weapons down a little, but then runs at a perfect 0 heat every turn too. Even jumping. And its low number of weapons can be changed by switching to 14 double heat sinks and adding 2 SSRM-4 w/2 tons ammo. Which still leaves it at perfect heat dissipation, and gives it a LOT of punch. And lastly switching to ferro-fibrous allows the mech to add case to both side torsos for the SSRM ammo (1 ton to each side for better durability) and be only 2 points shy of max armor, 1 point on each leg. I spent a few million c-bills during a campaign to mod my captured GHR-5J in this manner, and loved it. |

For a mercenary unit its a decent upgrade, I still say its not all that great for 3050. Needs more/double heat sinks and enough firepower/speed to kill things faster now that 3050 and tech level 2 show up.
Its okay but no longer the mech that killed swaths of things when properly played. The trade of the LRMs for SRMs was long over due and well appreciated though.
Although, I have serious doubts on 100 rounds of SRM 2 ammo. Would have been better off with 2 launchers and 1 ton ammo rather than the other way around.
Still its a servicable heavy mech in everything but front line units. Loses a lot of its combat value the farther up the tech line you go. |

Not so fond of this one. Going to the ER Laser makes some sense, but the Streak SRMs offer no benefit over the medium lasers. The AMS should also go.
They should have removed the original design's LRM-5 and replaced it with more heat sinks. The ER laser provides a much better long range stinger anyway. |
