The Panther was shifted from a useful combatmachine to a joke. To put an ER-PPC into a DC-mech with only 13 HS is a crime against the Coordinator himself! Now it has no ability to fire its PPC while jumping without slowing down to dangerous levels. 10 DHS has to be a must in this one even if you have to remove the ES. After such an upgrade i would use that spared tons for a stronger engine and a JJ instead of the Artemis.

This design is a joke. I would not even touch a mech that could not fire its main weapon twice without enough heat building up to slow it down further. That doesn't even cover what happens if you fire the SRM's and jump in a turn. Ammo goes bye bye. Oh yay only a third of the mech explodes itself. Stick with the original. Better in just about every way. I can't believe this is getting so high of a rating. this is a solid .5. |

Slightly below average. The upgrade of PPC is a logical step it Panther evolution since the Panther usually acts as a sniper, but the problem is in insufficient heat dissipation system. The 'Mech was already slow in 3025 and in 3050 it's even worse, especially when you have to choose between movement and shooting. The Artemis, while useful, isn't necessary when you desperately need additional heat sinks. In city you may be able to fade behind a corner, but you the value of the 'Mech is limited on the field and in city you don't need the range. It isn't as bad as the other 3050 'upgrades', but it could be better. |

This mech slips from being one of the most dangerous light mechs to being merely there.
I'd say that this design needs a serious revamp but without double heat sinks and/or an xl or something this mech is going to seriously bite as no wiggle room exists.
3025 you could get away with this kind of thing. my personal refit is a different flavour and involves what you see in the Custom TRO. Streaks and C3 and Chillers.
Its less lethal than its predecessor due to being able to use its superior range only every 2nd round. |

dump down to 10 HS and make em doubles and I'd give it a 4, otherwise it runs too hot. Still, it is a usable design, and not the worst I've ever seen |
