A straight upgrade and fully acceptable for its timeline.
More firepower, full armor and CASE.
The Valkyrie was never ment as a real frontline mech or a scout but as support for such machines.
Let your lancemates deal with the heavy fighting or attack the speedy enemy scout.

The improvement in armor and CASE are logical improvement and in 3050 the Valkyrie will need them since 5/8/5 movement won't be able to keep the 'Mech safe forever. I'm not sure whether the pulse laser is the best choice, but the additional accuracy will be handy as the 'Mech dances around the enemy while trying to avoid damage. Artemis IV is just another logical choice. There isn't much to criticize here. VLQ didn't gain much, but at least it didn't lose. It's getting old, but it still has a place on the battlefield. |

A plain-vanilla upgrade for Davion's light work-horse. The Artemis pod helps substantially, but the reliance on endo steel keeps you from upgrading older VLKs to this specification. |

Decent upgrade leaves the Valkryie outgunned. It needed something spectacular to be able to keep playing as a scout and it got some nifty toys but nothing really good.
I'd say this mech has only one advantage over most scouts. The LRM rack, but in this time period so many lights mount XLs that the range advantage fast evaporates. |
