Prior to a couple days ago I had never piloted the A config of the Dire Wolf. Now, I wish for my opponent's sake I hadn't. Hole punching Gauss Rifle, nice array of pulses, and the dual crit-seeker Streak-6s give this a beastly array of weapons. While the Warhawk may be my out and out favorite, this config of the Dire Wolf is very fun to use. |

This is generally believed to be the best mech in the game and rightfully so. With full armor and a perfectly balanced arsenal of great clan weapons no other mech can touch the Daishi. I prefer my variant however which removes the AMS, AMS ammo, 2 heatsinks, and half a ton of armor to put in a targeting computer.
The only downside to this mech is after you play with it for a little while everyone will groan when you say you're choosing it and insist you pick something else. It's always fun though to see how many Inner Sphere mechs you can gang up on it and still have a fair fight. |

Walking beat stick. This Daishi can just easily cream his enemies with an average pilot + alittle strategy. Stick in an Elite and lots of strategy, people will be running scared.

I've always thought that this should be the Dire Wolf's primary config, since it's the best one. Of the small horde of Dire Wolf configs I've made up, quite a few of them use this as a basic template. The pulse lasers, gauss, and AMS make this especially evil at range. I usually skip on AMS, but this much ammo makes the system incredibly useful. It also isn't trying to use the AMS to make up for a lack of armor, which is one of the more stupid strategies I've seen. The Streaks and pulse lasers are hellish close up, and you can throw in the gauss rifle most of the time too. Excellent ammo load; not so much as to waste tonnage, and not so little as to be a liability. Barring engine hits, this has no heat problems whatsoever. That's a problem for the strategy factor, since you don't have to figure out what to do, so that could be considered a flaw. But if you just want stuff to die, then here it is. |
