This is THE Beast of clan engineering at it's best. One of the typical beatsticks with hard-hitting PPCs and crit-seekers along with accurate lasers for backup. I have to agree that this 'Mech can put fear in you. I'd exchange the small laser for a light TAG to add another tool to my arsenal, but this thing doesn't really need it (andit's rather un-clan-like).

I decided to use this mech a few times after I noticed here that it got all "5" reviews. I'm now convinced that this is actually a mech that does live up to the hype. The other day I played a game where it was this mech and a Daishi A against six Level 1 Inner Sphere heavy and assault mechs (including a Maurader II and an Atlas). At the end the Madcat and Daishi were severely damaged and had about 1/3 of their guns working but I managed to destroy all six Inner Sphere mechs while losing neither one. The Madcat A is truely a great example of the superiority of clan battlemechs. However, as good as it is it's not invincible so don't go around being "that guy" that thinks he can take on any and all mechs you can lay on the board. I once lost a Madcat Prime in a straight up fight to a (lucky) Templar! Also, remember that a headshot effects all mechs equally no matter how good they are.
My only complaint about this mech is that it ruins the great and classic look of the Madcat with the missile launchers on its shoulders, other than that it's near perfect.

In my personal opinion this is the pinicle of TimberWolf development. It's not affriad to stand off at a distance with it's 2 ERPPCs, nor is it a slouch up close with it's 3 Medium Pulse Lasers and a StreakSRM 6 to toast opponents. I commonly use this 'mech as my star's commander for it's shear versatility.
This version follows my philosophy that dominates all the choices I follow when putting a star together, Heat is always better than a potential ammo explosion, because crits do happen.

Quite possibly the best whuppin stick in the Clan arsenal.
Two ER PPCs can deal a good amount of damage, even if only one is fired at a target. Nearly every light, most medium, and some heavy mechs will take serious internal damage, if not be destroyed outright, by one salvo from the PPCs.
The medium pulse lasers serve nicely as close range weapons, and can chew light mechs to wreckage just by themselves.
The SRMs arent streaks, and that puzzles me just a bit. I would think that a Clan pilot would swap them for Streak arrays as quickly as possible. Sure, you may have to wait for a lock-on, but then you increase the ammount of damage done.
This would be a good mech to fill out a battle or command star.
