The thinking man's Stormcrow. This is a very good bracket fighter but do watch the heat and ammo. Could drop a single med pulse for 2 DHS but that loses some of its insane damage potential. |

This one can run hot, especially with a pilot that can achieve SRM lock often... so why weren't the weapons optimized for greater efficiency (looking at prime)? Well, because they already ARE.
LRMs are just for backup and the should be out of ammo by the time you want to close on the enemy. Don't worry about taking a tough shot with them, they don't look like they should be used while you are in range with the lasers and SRMs. The weapons layout also caught my eye. If the 'Mech is meant to circle around the enemy then you may face the enemy with your right side (firing LRMs and catching damage) and then you may turn your left on him, hitting him with the lasers and keeping your possibly damaged armor away from his guns. Heat dissipation also supports this IMO, because the lasers will be used all the time and SRMs would only be fired to finish off the enemy or when you achieve a lock (which won't be that easy since you and the opponent as well are probably running).
This sounds reasonable for a duel (= optimized for clan-style warfare), but it won't work in barbaric battlefields of the Inner Sphere where everyone shoots everywhere. There you'll overheat, but it will be entirely your fault, because this 'Mech is meant to be used in a different way and NEEDS firing discipline (you know, clan pilots are heat jocks). Not that I like this configuration, but there may be more into it than I thought. |

I don't much like this Stormcrow, but it isn't a horrible mech either. The dislike is more of personal style than the playing merits of it. Still, I just don't find it versatile enough. Of course... being an Omni that isnt a true issue, as the versatility comes in being able to repod it. |

This variant of the Stormcrow was the first to catch my eye, with a great range of great weapons. So why does it get a relatively low mark?
I first used this in one of my first battles. That may have been the reason why it suddenly ran real hot real quick. Now that I'm more experienced, I find that I never returned to this variant - I'm now more used to utilising the no-holds-barred approach that both the PRIME and the B make possible. |

Its a head above most medium clan mechs, yet compared to the Prime its only advantage is superior in close bite.
The LRM 20 is a decent weapon but too prone to run out of ammo to really be counted upon. |
