As Knightrunner said it: Why an AMS?
(just like the Stinger -5M)
It has strong firepower now but has to come very close to use all of it.
So i would prefer full armor instead of the AMS (that system weights 2t all in all) and maybe some more firepower or even speed.
A medium and 4 small lasers with full armor and no XL going 9/14 would have been great. |

The armor is weaker on standard 1V model, but the main protection of this design is speed. Firepower received major boost, but the problem is in range. If you close with the enemy, you are pulse laser food and even IS medium pulse lasers have double range of the SLs. AMS gained some real value with Total Warfare, so nothing against it, but this 'Mech needs armor. It can be pretty dangerous backbiter, but the 'Mech is dangerous to the pilot as well. |

What is the fascination 3050 refitters have with the AMS? Why would any sane person _lower_ a tiny mech's armor coverage to mount a system that a) requires CASE b) only works against missiles c) only has enough ammo for two salvos. This tonnage could have gone to another ton of armor and another medium laser. An AMS is a supplement to armor, not an alternative. |

I'm not such a big fan of the small lasers; mediums would be preferable. I prefer to stay out of physical combat range if I'm driving a Locust, thank you very much! |

A good start but merely slightly above average for 3050.
Thin armour and needing to get close to your opponents in the era of Pulses and LB-Xs will get you killed fast.
Its a good start for a refit. But you need to do a bit more tinkering before this thing can truly be used in battle against other mechs and expect to win often. |
