A sort of quick response infantry deterrent with a medium laser for selfdefense. A weak variant.
Now it has too little firepower for backbiting/light-mech-hunting only to gain a little anti-infantry capability.
A really bad deal! |

This is one of those campaign Mechs. Designed for raids and mayhem. If used in that specialist roll is does OK. So it would destroy ammo dumps, flush out enemies, etc. Main point is to use mobility to get the job done and get out. The flamer is a tool and the ML a defensive gun.
GM- I have just screwed with PCs with this Mech. Trying to defend a facility while I am burning everything can be infuriating. Most never die, but in terms of direct damage never do anything. |

One of the weaker SDR variants. The mobility is still excellent, so it's one of premier scout mechs for it's era, but light armor and weak weapons are clearly saying that it must fall back if any serious opposition is present. Maybe it would make a good vehicle destroyer in difficult terrain, but I would rather keep it out of reach, especially with the spare parts problems common with this chassis. |

No thanks. Flamers just don't do it for me. Range is too restrictive for effective use against anything other than infantry. I suppose that is why it was included. I would rather take the original spider. |

Not the best variant of the spider, it still has its recon and light strike ability though, and a slight amount of extra armour is always a good thing. |
