A better upgrade than the -3D. Now it has a dangerous weaponloadout. The two mainweapons deliver a solid punch at almost all ranges and the medium pulse lasers can counter fast pests. But to be really good it has to solve two flaws: Rip out two of the useless DHS´s to get it the armor it deserves.

This upgrade is poorly thought out. First you got way too many DHS unless you enjoy alphas on every round. Secondly, consider this. You mount an XL engine, but you don't improve on the protection in anyway AT ALL. Very bad idea. Lastly, why the pulses ? The pulses do have their use on a heavy brawler but not for this one.
I suggest dropping 4 dhs and swapping the pulses for regular mediums, then you can kill the XL for a standard engine. Then maybe throw on 10.5 tons of FF armor and add a CASE and she is good to go for ass whupping. You even keep the MASC if you feel like scaring some mediums.

I agree with Rudel about the armour, but I'm not exactly happy to see the pulse guns. Sure that they can do some damage, but I wonder whether there isn't a better use for the tons invested. The same goes for the MASC, which doesn't provide much benefit for four tons. The weapons mix is otherwise sound and there is finally enough ammo to allow the AC to work as respected companion to the PPC instead of something to add when you can't miss. I'd be happier with more armour, but the 3L Cataphract isn't THAT bad. |

Pretty good. The CTF has always seemed to have a lack of direction, from what Ive seen, but this one seems to be going places. No pun intended.
While an ER PPC and LBX may not seem like much for ranged action, this mech is geared to get into close range combat as quickly as possible, aided by the MASC set up. Thats where things are going to get interesting.
Using cluster ammo on the LBX, combined with the beam weapons to carve up the weakened armor is a viable strategy, one that can even threaten assault mechs, given time and maneuverability.
This mech would also be effective hunting elementals, especially with the LBX and PPC able to eleminate one trooper with each strike. The pulse lasers dont deal quite as much damage required to kill an elemental, but can inflict enough damage to make some commanders think twice. Especially since the elementals must move into point blank range to have the best chances to hit, a range where a pulse laser almost cant possibly miss. |

I've always liked pairing LB10X and ERPPC. The MPLs as backup weapons are kinda nice, though only one should face rear not two.
Crit locations and lack of CASE cost this a little. By this I mean that with both big bang weapons on one side of the machine it is east to render ineffective. |
