This is a cityfighter. Slow speed and short range will cause big problems if caught in the open so don“t leave the city or dense woods. But in constricted aereas the -1S can give your opponent a bad surprise. Watch your heat and use your jump wisely. |

As a specialized city fighter it may excel, but don't try to move out of built up areas (or other places that would cover you). Without some sort of cover the 1S model is too slow to get in range quickly enough to kill the enemy before suffering heavy damage, or to catch faster machines. |

A city mugger at its finest. Its well armored, have 2 big SRM racks and even 3 medium lasers !
Downside is that it will run hot, fast ! While it is fun to pump out tons of crippling firepower (39 points ain't no joke against mediums and lights !) at close range due to the urban enviroment, the heat will skyrocket after a few rounds and get worse when you jump.
Only let loose when you are pretty certain you can decimate the target quickly, an ammo explosion ain't funny at all. |

It can raise hell in a city, but you'll never see one there. This is the original model of the Whitworth, which entered production in 2610 for the Star League, who soon replaced the SRMs with LRMs.
In other words, unless you dig up a cache dating back to the 2600s, well over a century before the Amaris Civil war, you're not going to see one of these. The fluff calls it "extrememly rare" which to me says you can count the number of this variant to be found in the Inner Sphere and periphery with the fingers of one hand, two hands at most. |

Powerful and a garrison mech for any other star nation.
But with Steiner 4/6 in 3025 is serious speed it seems.
The preponderous Steiner forces relish things that can move this fast sometimes it seems.
I'm not sure I like giving up the range weapons on a slowish design though.
Still it deserves a lot of credit for being a lethal design when it gets to 270 and shorter meters. |
