The fluff is the strongest point of this mech for me. Otherwise there is no ranged firepower on this slow mech, so you need some trick to get in range. It's dangerous as an ambusher or city fighter, but I'm not sure if mercs can afford to field a lance of specialized mechs like this one. No IS UAC/20s in 3050, unless OLA developed them sooner than whole IS reverse engineered clan guns. |

Those dual UAC20s sure pack a hell load of punch. Not something you wanna face in the dark side of the alley.
weakness is its backup weapon and its terrible performance on the range. Still nice concept and yeah a mackie deserves a vote ;) |

Reminds me of a HunchBack IIC in IS form. Its nice and good in the city fights, but still an open terrain fight will leave it a shell less hulk soon enough.
Course the Mackie gets points just because its the Mackie:) |

Yay! Someone updated the dear old Mackie! Great weapons loadout, not the kind of thing you would want to meet in a dark alley. Its only downfalls are its a bit pricey to keep running and is next to useless in a campaign. Also, the weapons are a bit to big, a critical hit would knock out alot of its firepower in one go. Also the lack of long range support weaponary is a bit of a downer. But in a closed environment this is deadly.

An IS 'Mech mounting paired UAC 20s. I like. I've bee trying to do this for a while, but haven't been satisfied. This 'Mech is extremely short on backup weapons, which, along with the lack of long range weapons, brings it down from a 5. Nonetheless, a very good 'Mech, and with more ammo than most UAC 'Mechs mount, which I like a lot. It'll still go fast in ultra mode, but taken with the armor, it'll last long enough. Excellent armor, speed is average for its weight, and near perfect heat efficiancy. I don't look forward to getting close to this one.
I like the fluff, too. Nice to see someone do something with the ol' Mackie. Quite honestly though, I miss the 'crotch mounted lasers.' The only thing that competes with a Mackie's 'obscene profile' is the cigar smoking Hauptmann. |
