This "pimped" Awesome/Atlas has good firepower at short and medium range and is able to hold its ground in a 3050 environment. But a few years later ER-PPCs and gauss rifles will make survival a hard task. To get the medium lasers (and some more armor) the tonnage had to be increased by a hefty 20 tons. |

The 'Mech is quite brutal medium range beat stick for an IS tech, but I would prefer the 9Q Awesome. The 'Mech is dangerous at medium and short ranges, but I'd keep something with long range weapons around to protect me from snipers. |

Its good, but when you play unlimited manuverability battlefields. Its going to get its tail kicked every time. Since it can't close.
Against both IS and clan opponents it'll be kicked around before it ever gets into range, and then it'll start being effective.
I'm also against adding tonnage to designs. Even though you stayed in the same weight class, 20 tons isn't something you can just add on a whim.
I'd flip some of those mediums to rear facing because this design is likely to get outflanked and it can't arm flip.
Its better than average even with all my quibbles, but still, not all that better than the 9Q or a lot of other designs. |

Well, the Awesome 9Q is almost the same design, but 20 tons lighter.
Sure, this has beautiful short-range weaponry on top of the 4 PPCs. And the overall firepower is great. But against the Clans? No good, needs longer range (just in reaction to bladewind's review).
So yeah, great design, but closely follows a canon design without changing it sufficiently. |

Die clanner.
Thats what this monster oozes out. Quad PPCs are dangerous as well as 6 mediums. Sure it cant hit at range well but leave the long range work to the Archers.
just get into range and let em have it. |
