Overview:
The Black Locust is an Upgrade available to the Mech Pilots of the Steel Scorpions Mercenary
Unit. Replacing the ER Large Laser, with 4 ER Medium Lasers gave this mech a better damage
curve. One of the 4 ER Medium Lasers are mounted to the rear of the Mech, to discurage rear
assailents.
Capabilities:
Because this Mech is eqiuped with a Targeting Computer, its 3 forward Facing weapons are
easily able to hit desired locations on enemy Mechs. The rear mounted laser is also Tied
into the Mechs Targeting Computer, and enjoys all the same bonuses. The Targeting Computer,
combined with the this Mechs Speed makes it an excellent recon or hunter/killer for light
Mechs.
This Design was first to be used on Kuranto Five, when the Steel Scorpions were hired to
eleminate hostile forces, a rebellion against the Draconis Combine. The mech performed
beyond expectations.
Deployment:
only four of these mechs exist, and are currently mixed with other Light and Medium mechs
assigned to Delta Company.

A Nice machine. Nice guns, nice TC, nice armor, can the handle heat nicely. My English teacher says that the word nice is not nice, but I'll use it here because I want to type a nice review : P
The rear facing laser isn't necessary, when you can flip the arms. I would buy one of these, even if it isn't cheap.

Take the rear laser and mount it front, a mech of such speed should not worry about backbiters.
The 4 ERmediums give this mech a nasty bite and the TC just makes it easier to hit the baddies while you are running.

Definitely a dangerous 'mech in combat, but it's expense will limit it's use somewhat.
I don't really like the rear-mounted laser though. A 'mech this fast shouldn't have to worry about being shot at from the rear often enough to justify placing a weapon there.

Its a great locust refit in my mind, faster, stronger, more accurate.
This comes at the cost of having to find 180XL engines and keeping them running on longer missions. As they're frequently mission killed by low percentage LL and PPC shots.
Its a nice mech, but doesn't fit the disposable profile of most 20 tonners.
Its better than average even still.

Overall, this is a very nice remake of the locust. The combination of the Medium lasers and the targeting computer give this quite a nice accurate punch. The only reason that this is a 4.5 and not a 5 is that the rear mounted laser is redundant on a mech with flip arms.
