An upgrade of the old -4P "Swayback" with some more reach, really full armor and still the good old standard engine.
The C3-slave will give it some better chances at medium ranges and can deliver data back to its lance-mates if engaged in a brawl.
As almost all machines got faster this days the slow speed can get it into trouble though especially without jump-jets.

Average but the loss of the AC 20 makes this mech little more than bland and slow.

i don't like this design. taking out the ac 20 is a bad idea. its got lots of lasers and a gaurdian ecm suite but it just does not do anything to replace the ac. taking out the main gun makes HBK-5P look weaker. i give it a 2.5

Not having an AC really weakens this mech. Sure its got pulse lasers, and a shload of ER lasers, but you expect an HBK to carry a big damn AC. This mech is alright as a light brawler or skirmisher, but lacks that knock down killer weapon. The C3 link doesnt make up for that. This mech has gone from a killer to a missile spotter. Sorry guys, but this one really doesnt impress me all that much.
