Overview:
It has come to the attention of the Order that the SLDF, in the waning days of the Star
League, order the construction of several prototypes of a new variant of the venerable
Shadow Hawk. Sharing design features with the classic 2H and the SLDF upgraded 2Hb, we have
dubbed these prototypes the 2Hb-II.
This variant, overall, was a less drastic overhaul of the 2H then the 2Hb. The 2Hb-II's
designers choose to go with the latter's double strength heat sinks and endo-steel
structure, but retaining the former's Maximillian 43 armor plating (if adding another 0.5
tons) and general weapons package. The Armstrong J11 was upgraded to an Imperator Ultra-5A
for the improved firing rate, a second Martell medium laser was mounted in tandem with the
original, and the Holly 2 tube launcher was upgraded to a 4 tube launcher; meanwhile, the
Holly 5 tube launcher was retained but CASE was added to both side torsos to control the
problematic issue of ammunition explosions common to Shadow Hawks.
These changes virtually double the 2Hb-II's fire power compared to the 2H while maintain the
comfortable temperature curve that Shadow Hawk pilots have come to expect.
Only 3 were apparently built for testing before the SLDF elected to go with the more
advanced 2Hb. The fates of these prototypes remains unknown and appear to have either been
lost in the fight against the usurper or taken by General Kerensky with the SLDF into the
unknown.
