Overview:
In the late 3140’s, in an attempt to make the most of their industrial output, Clan
Hell’s Horses’ leadership directed their scientists and technicians to revisit the many
older OmniMech designs they were still constructing, and determine what measures could be
implemented to make them more effective. When examining the vintage Gargoyle 80 ton
OmniMech, it was determined that most configurations did not utilize the vast amount of heat
dissipation afforded by the built-in heat sink system of that design, and the lack of
endo-steel internals also limited its payload. Alleviating these two constraints nearly
doubled the payload of the machine, making the resulting machine truly deadly on the
battlefield.
Capabilities:
Alternate Configuration M of the Gargoyle II is the artillery version of this OmniMech, and
designed as a replacement for the Bowman artillery BattleMech. The right arm and much of the
right torso is taken up by an Arrow IV artillery system, which is fed from four tons of
missile reloads kept in CASE II protected bays in the side torsos. The left torso also
mounts a LRM-15 fed by two tons of reloads and an extended-range large laser, while the
right arm has three extended-range medium lasers. An Angel ECM Suite in the center torso
helps provide electronic warfare coverage to the machine.
