Overview:
In the late 3140’s, in an attempt to make the most of their industrial output, Clan
Hell’s Horses’ leadership directed their scientists and technicians to revisit the many
older OmniMech designs they were still constructing, and determine what measures could be
implemented to make them more effective. When examining the vintage Gargoyle 80 ton
OmniMech, it was determined that most configurations did not utilize the vast amount of heat
dissipation afforded by the built-in heat sink system of that design, and the lack of
endo-steel internals also limited its payload. Alleviating these two constraints nearly
doubled the payload of the machine, making the resulting machine truly deadly on the
battlefield.
Capabilities:
Alternate Configuration I of the Gargoyle II replicates the same configuration of its
progenitor, but the extra podspace allows some extra equipment, and the engineers also
decided to rearrange the weapons at the same time. As with that older model, the primary
weapons of this machine are a trio of extended-range large lasers combined with a pair of
improved heavy large lasers. The former are to be used at long to extreme ranges; while the
latter are used for close-in combat. 8 extra double heat sinks can deal with the heat
created by firing one set of these weapons, but nothing else. Therefore, the MechWarrior
piloting this configuration must carefully choose his targets and weapons. Once holes have
been punched in their opponents, they can use two short-range missile launchers, each
releasing a salvo of four missiles, to exploit those breaches. However, as missile storage
is limited to a single ton of reloads, these should be reserved for those specific times in
combat. The final half-ton of podspace has been used to mount an extended-range small laser.
