Overview:
In the late 3140’s, in an attempt to make the most of their industrial output, Clan
Hell’s Horses’ leadership directed their scientists and technicians to revisit the many
older OmniMech designs they were still constructing, and determine what measures could be
implemented to make them more effective. When examining the vintage Gargoyle 80 ton
OmniMech, it was determined that most configurations did not utilize the vast amount of heat
dissipation afforded by the built-in heat sink system of that design, and the lack of
endo-steel internals also limited its payload. Alleviating these two constraints nearly
doubled the payload of the machine, making the resulting machine truly deadly on the
battlefield.
Capabilities:
Alternate Configuration A was designed as a bracket fire machine. At long-ranges, as the
pilot closes in with its targets, a pair of extended-range PPC’s provide hard-hitting
firepower common in many Clan designs. Each hit with these weapons can remove almost a full
ton of standard plate armor, quickly opening holes in most opponents. As the range closes,
these high heat weapons can be exchanged for a highly accurate large pulse laser.
Considering the mounting location of this weapon, it ensures the design still has decent
ranged firepower even if the arms are lost. This laser is paired with an improved heavy
medium laser in each side torso. Although they only have a relatively short-range, each of
these smaller lasers can hit just as hard as the bigger brother. And once these energy
weapons open holes in the pilot’s targets, twin 6-pack racks of short-range missiles can
exploit any armor breaches. Finally, a head-mounted micro-pulse laser can target any enemy,
including infantry, should ranges get extremely close.
