Overview:
    Its been said that a protomech could accurately mimic the capabilities of an old style Wasp
    or Stinger.  The Vespoid was created to achieve that goal.

Capabilities:
    The Wasp WSP-1D does not want to cooperate with being packaged into a Protomech.  Which
    comes down to the difference between Mech and Protomech engines, and their capacity to
    process heat.  The Mech gets away with its load-out of lasers and flamers because the engine
    can absorb that heat into its base capacity.  The protomech... can't.  In addition, the 1 to
    1 trade out of Chemical lasers for traditional lasers involves a cost in ammo.  No mater
    which way you cut it, the weapon's loadout does not want to fit.  So instead it was
    modified.
    
    The Medium laser was traded for an ER Small laser.  Range is lost, firepower is preserved.
    Small lasers become ER Micro lasers, reversing the range and firepower trade off.  The
    Flamer is traded for a Micro-pulse lasers.  This is a mixed trade off.  General firepower is
    improved.  Specialty firepower vs light targets and tree's is reduced.
    
    The net result, despite a lack of stand off firepower, remains true to the original WSP-1D's
    purpose of being unbound by ammo constraints.  Which would be fine, if not for a slightly
    lower battlefield life expectancy due to the reduced armor required to make room for all the
    lasers and their heat sinks.

Deployment:
    Despite being formally designed, and that battle history to consider,  there are no plans to
    actually produce Vespoids.  Their mobility or firepower is below the thresholds useful in
    modern combat.

Variants:
    Just how many Wasps and Stingers are there?  The modern ones built or rebuilt to keep up
    with modern combat are likely out of reach, but even now the majority of the ones in use are
    based on star league era models.
