I filed a bug report for it earlier when I couldn't modify some of my designs, but it seems all combat vehicles cannot have more than 6 items added to the Body or Turret.

And it's almost worse because the impact is seemingly miniscule - 12 tractors and 36 trailers; 48 total canon units affected, most of which will have 0 impact to playability.
