Overview:
Named for the heroic warriors of Slavic myth and legend who were akin to European
knight-errants, the Scorpion Empire developed the Bogatyr to give their forces a capable,
home-grown medium-weight skirmisher and line fighter.
Initially based on samples the clan maintained of the old Clan Fire Mandrill Crimson Langur,
the design has been further streamlined, with ferro-fibrous armor plating replacing the
original’s standard armor plate, and an improved sensor system installed that make it a
more effective heavy reconnaissance machine, even if those systems now make the design more
difficult to repair in comparison to its predecessor and require components and materials
that can be difficult to acquire (note: has the Improved Sensors, Improved Communications,
Protected Actuators, Rugged (1), Difficult to Repair and Non-Standard Parts quirks).
Capabilities:
Although based on the Crimson Langur, the Bogatyr is not the same OmeniMech. The Clan
scientists assigned to the project elected to increase the mass of the machine to the upper
range of a medium-weight BattleMech and decrease the power rating of the fusion core,
providing less ground speed to the design. This frees up significant mass for other
improvements, and grants the design almost as much pod space as the much heavier Timber Wolf
OmniMech. To make up for the decrease in ground speed, they did choose to provide the unit
with a MASC system to provide bursts of speed when needed, making it able to reach sprints
over 100 kph for short periods.
They also provided an armored skin with an effective protection rating greater to that on
the original design, but with less mass cost due to being ferro-fibrous materials.
Additionally, a small cockpit was fitted to the machine which retains the Crimsom Langur’s
full-head ejection system.
Deployment:
The Bogatyr is slowly being deployed to all front line forces in the Scorpion Empire, with
several ristars fielding those first off the production lines. A production run each was
even trialed for by Clan Sea Fox and Clan Hell’s Horses. The latter won their trial,
renaming the design the Death Knight, and has mostly assigned these OmniMechs to Cavalry
units and similar formations that prize mobility. The clan has come to appreciate this new
machine and is considering trialling for the right to manufacture them for themselves.

Variants:
The prime configuration is a highly mobile energy boat configuration with a secondary heavy
recon role. It is armed with a single large pulse laser mounted in the right arm backed by a
pair of small pulse lasers placed directly below for a close-in anti-personnel role. The
left arm carries a pair of medium pulse lasers and each energy weapon is tied into an
advanced targeting computer. The model’s mobility is given to it by a series of improved
jump jets making the machine capable of leaping up to 210 meters in a single jump, as well
as a supercharger which gives its pilot the option of switching between both the
supercharger and its built-in MASC system or they can choose to use both for an extreme
burst of ground speed. The ‘Mech’s heavy recon role is enhanced by the addition of a
light active probe that improves its already impressive sensor system, as well as a
head-mounted Angel ECM Suite.

Variants:
The B configuration of the Bogatyr appears almost like a small Warhammer, as it has
arm-mounted extended-range particle cannons backed by torso mounted extended-range medium
and small lasers and anti-personnel Gauss rifles that share a ton of ammunition. Backing
these weapons is a Streak SRM-4 that has its own ton of ammunition. The Gauss rifles and
missiles are protected by advanced CASE systems. Heat can be a problem for this
configuration even with the addition of 4 extra double heat sinks and no mass was leftover
for jump jets.

Variants:
Alternate Configuration C of the Bogatyr combines a rapid-fire heavy autocannon in the right
arm with left arm-mounted pulse lasers; one large and two medium. Neither arm mounts hand or
lower arm actuators, so they can be flipped to fire at targets in this ‘Mech’s rear arc.
The autocannon is fed by three tons of munitions stored in the right torso and protected by
an advanced CASE system. Both an active probe and an ECM system have been head mounted to
improve its electronic warfare abilities.

Variants:
Alternate Configuration H is a heavy brawler, combining hard hitting firepower with good
mobility. The left arm mounts a large advanced tactical missile system fed by three tons of
munitions, while the right has an improved heavy large laser. Both side torsos halos have an
improved heavy medium laser and the right includes a 4 pack of streak short-range missiles.
The lasers have all been tied into an advanced targeting computer, and mobility is improved
by enough jump jets to allow 150 meter leaps, and ground speed by the addition of a
supercharger.

Capabilities:

machine and is considering trialling for the right to manufacture them for themselves.
Variants:
Alternate Configuration D is designed to primarily handle non-‘Mech threats. Each arm
mounts a combination of a plasma cannon, two extended-range medium lasers, and a trio of
light machine guns tied into a machine gun array. A third plasma cannon is mounted in the
center torso, and the plasma cannons share 5 tons of munitions. Each machine gun areas is
fed by its own held-ton of ammunition placed in each side torsos along with an
extended-range small laser and an anti-personnel Gauss rifle. One ton of munitions for the
latter is stored in the center torso. A Watchdog electronics system improves its scanning
radius and provides electronic warfare capability.

providing less ground speed to the design.
Variants:
The Prime configuration of Clan Hell’s Horses’ version of the Bogatyr, the Death Knight,
takes many cues from that machine’s own Prime model, but puts its own spin on them.
Instead of improved jump jets, this version mounts only five standard jets, meaning it can
only make leaps of up to 150 meters at a time. However, it also mounts a supercharger,
granting it similar ground speeds. It also mounts pulse lasers, but in this case, it is an
extended-range large pulse model in the right arm, and it doesn’t mount the small pulse
lasers of the Scorpion’s version. Similarly, the medium pulse lasers are also
extended-range models, but they are torso mounted instead of arm-mounted, and all three
lasers are tied into an advanced targeting computer. Backing these weapons are a pair of
3-racks of Advanced Tactical Missiles, fed from a two-ton ammunition bay. An extra pair of
double heat sinks help to alleviate the heat produced by consistent use of these weapons. To
aid in its role of heavy reconnaissance, there is active probe and an ECM suite mounted in
this ‘Mech’s head, and a TAG system has been installed above the laser in the right arm.
The final ton of its podspace is consumed with the addition of a left arm-mounted laser
anti-missile system.

This frees up significant mass for other

renaming the design the Death Knight, and has mostly assigned these OmniMechs to Cavalry
units and similar formations that prize mobility. The clan has come to appreciate this new
machine and is considering trialling for the right to manufacture them for themselves.
Variants:
Alternate Configuration A of the Death Knight only possesses the base movement profile of
the chassis, and only mounts a total of four weapons, but those four weapons can make it a
nightmare on the battlefield. The two head-mounted extended-range small lasers can each hit
as hard as a standard Inner Sphere medium lasers at almost that weapon’s same range, but
it is the arm-mounted weapons that can inspire fear in this model’s opponents.
inner Sphere forces of all stripes have long learned to respect the extreme range and
damage-dealing potential of the clan extended-range particle cannon, but in the last few
years, they have come to fear the potential of the hyper-assault Gauss rifles, particularly
of the larger variants. The type 30 HAG that has been mounted on this model is fed by 4 tons
of munitions ensuring battlefield longevity, and the cannon itself is encased in CASE
systems; standard version about thr portions of the weapon that are in the right arm, and
advanced models around the portion of the weapon in the side torso.

Variants:
Alternate Configuration C of the Death Knight is another dedicated sniper model, mounting
extended-range large lasers in each arm tied into a center-torso mounted targeting computer.
Backing these weapons are a pair long-range missile racks capable of launching 15 missiles
at a time each. These racks are fitted with advanced Artemis V fire-control systems, and
each can draw from their own 2 ton munitions bays. A head-mounted Angel ECM suite can
prevent enemies from disrupting these systems and a light active probe consumes the last
half ton of podspace. Heat can be a problem for this model as no extra heat sinks have been
fitted, so pilots must be mindful of their fire patterns.

streak technology. Each missile rack has its own ton of reloads stored in advanced CASE
protection, while the Gauss rifles share a ton. Two extra heat sinks attempt to keep up with
the heat demands of this model.
