================================================================================================
Overview:
In May 3067 the graduating classes of the Luthien Academy Of Military Design got a
challenging task to accomplish.
They had to design a BattleMech with the latest CAD-technology and under following terms:
1. Take a classic BattleMech design used in the 3rd Succession War.
2. Construct an OmniMech chassis upon this basis.
3. Suggest weapon configurations for that chassis; at least four but not more than seven.
3. a) The primary configuration has to be based upon the original weapon layout of the
classic design.
3. b) If possible include following configuration types: city-fighter, LRM-support,
fire-support/sniper.
All OmniMechs were graded by a committee and loaded into a battlefield simulation program.
The ARC-O was presented by Student Inama Tokura.
Capabilities:
Student Tokura thought, that the strength of the Archers design lies in its heavy armor and
massive torso mounted missile racks. So she chose almost full standard armor and a standard
fusion engine to open up enough room for that. She also did make the unconventionel decision
to mount two fixed ER lasers and no pod mounts into the arms to ease production and -quote-
"Two ER mediums are always nice to have."
A weight saving EndoSteel skeleton and ten double heat sinks round out the design, leaving
29 tons of pod space.
The primary configuration is very similar to the original Archer. The lasers are replaced by
upgraded models while the LRMs were augmented by Artemis IV.
Configuration A can deliver 60 MRMs in one salvo while still carrying two ER lasers and two
rear mounted small pulse lasers for self defense.
The B configuration was meant as a city fighter with 24 Streak SRMs and jump jets for added
mobility in constricted environments.
Geared towards long-range support the C has the firepower of two light gauss rifles with
plenty of ammunition and the ability to use a c3-network for precision strikes.
Built for prolonged combat situations or bad supply lines configuration D carries two
ER-PPCs, two additional medium lasers (pulse models) and jump jets for enhanced mobility.
Especially the PPCs can make good use of the added C3-slave.
The trials in the academy's battlefield simulation program were a success.
Each configuration worked very well within its intended role. Some minor criticism was
voiced about the relatively light damage potential of the C-configuration and suboptimal
heat dissipation capability of the A, B and D.

to mount two fixed ER lasers and no pod mounts into the arms to ease production and -quote-
"Two ER mediums are always nice to have."
