Let's say there's a tournament with 16 mechs on the board, with a 4-hour time limit. Assuming all the Mechs are adjusted to similar BV, what's a good scoring system to determine a winner? Using just kills is not viable because it encourages sniping, as opposed to engaging and fighting.
Also, this system has to be very quick to determine round-by-round scores/leaders (remember, it's a 4-hour limit), and it would be best if the players have to do very little of the paperwork involved (although having players do it isn't a deal breaker). _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

I have seen people use the forced withdrawal crippling damage as a method. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

But that doesn't generate a score. I'm looking for something that generates an actual score that can be quickly and easily tracked. _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

I like Mordel's system of PBeM scoring, though I am not sure how, "quick n easy" that is as it will require accurate record keeping every firing phase. How many machines does each player have control of? _________________ The JadeDragon

My store group held an Urbie Derby and used 'objectives' as a means of gaining points.
Repetitive:
1 point / kill.
1 point / unit placed in forced withdrawal.
1 point / turn of holding a control point.
Once / Game:
2 points for a successful kick that removes the targets leg.
2 points for a successful DFA that knocks the opponent prone.
1 point for causing an ammo explosion.
1 point for passing a PSR of 7+.
1 point for hitting with a Small Laser/MG/Flamer.
Stuff like this. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.
