|

For some reason, if I have a design saved that was allowed to be saved while sharing the name of someone else’s saved design, when I go to pull up that named design, I can never seem to get it to bring up mine. It’s always that other design (or other designs if more than mine and one other are saved under the same name).
The only way I can seem to select one of my designs is if it has a unique name or if I go into the “My Designs” subsection of the design forum and then go into the designer from there.
Why is the system doing that?

Can you give me an example of a unit whose name is the same as another that you can't edit? Also, how fo you try tonedit is as there are different ways to do it. The system itself only prevents you from saving a unit with the same name as a canon dedign. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

It’s not that I can’t edit it. It’s that I’m looking up a unit I created, but can’t find it when using the load button, taking off the selection for canon only and then typing in the name.
For instance, the “Gargoyle II [PRIME]” I created yesterday. When I look it up as described above, neither are the OmniMech I created.
The only way I can seem to find that machine is to go to the “My Designs” section, open it there, and then go to the Edit on the designer function. This will allow me to create a variant (special button at the bottom).
It seems that only if my design doesn’t share a name with someone’s else’s design can I find my design by using the “Load” button, taking the “canon only” function off and typing in the name.

So I see three 'Gargoyle II Prime' designs when I try to load non-canon. I'm assuming one of those are yours. But it seems the real issue is there's no way for you to know which one. So I'm assuming what might need to be done is to also show who the designer is in some fashion.
Or are you saying that when you search for 'Gargoyle II Prime' it doesn't show anything at all? _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I was actually trying to load the base configuration, of which I see two, but unless the system is continually flopping them when I try to load them, both appear to be the same design, neither of which is mine.
This is when I go into the designer and try to load from there.
(Note: I do see three Prime configurations, but I’ve not tried loading those)
When I go into the “My Designs” subforum, I can bring up my design. I can then go into the designer system by using the button in the upper left of the screen, and choose the “Create Variant” option from the center bottom right button.
In case these any question, my base configuration for the Gargoyle II retains the 5/8 speed and ferro armor of the original Gargoyle, but adds endo, and drops the 6 extra heat sinks for 31.5 tons of podspace.
Therefore other Gargoyle II [BASE] I see has 4/6 speed and jump jets.

There definitely could be something happening. Possibly it picks the first one it finds with the same name. My guess is in some cases it will be you're design if it was the first one listed. I've logged a bug for it and will look into more. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator
